The Buddhist Crab Is A Small Crab Measuring Only 1cm In Size. Its Name Comes From The “Angle-eye,” Which Refers To The Two Small Horns On The Eyes Of Male Crabs. The Term “Harakiri” Comes From Its Behavior Of Repeatedly Raising Both Claws And Then Bringing Them Down To The Chest, Resembling The Act Of Committing Harakiri Or Ritual Suicide With A Samurai Sword. Hence, The Name Buddhist Crab. These Crabs Are Often Found In Groups Along The Sandy Beaches Or Mangrove Beaches Near Estuaries With Brackish Water. They Are Classified As Euryhaline Organisms. When Kept In Captivity, They Prefer Moist Land Habitats But Can Also Tolerate Freshwater Or Brackish Water Environments. They Can Be Kept In Mixed Groups With Other Individuals. It Is Important Not To Keep Them In Deep Water Environments.
